Commenting Policy. Read this.

August 5, 2016 § 2 Comments

I welcome comments on this blog. Discussion and disagreement is good for us all.  However, I will not tolerate trolls, I will not tolerate bigotry of any kind.  I control who comments on this site because it is my site.  Your First Amendment rights are not being abrogated if I delete your comment.  I hate that I have to post this warning, but, such is life.

  • Brian Bixby says:

I went to moderating ALL comments on my blogs after a troll visited one of them.
It was actually an amusing experience. The troll first posted an unacceptable comment, which I just let hang out there, unapproved and invisible to any other reader, so then he sent a much nicer one. To disguise himself, he switched to a female identity, though he was using the same IP address. I approved the second comment, and then figured I had to change my policy from “approve first” to “approve all” just in case he came back again with another nasty comment.

    • I have to approve all first time commenters. And so there are a lot of comments that don’t get posted. And I’ve had that, too, where a commentator has changed genders to re-post what I already rejected. I let that go once, and then noted in response what they had done. He deleted his own comment after that.
